Quest-all, the Knowledge-Suite Meta-search

There are many different Web-based resources that are available to schools and libraries. These include library catalogs, union catalogs, EBSCO, ProQuest and many others. The challenge is using the different resources productively.

To use an example that we will use extensively in this manual, if a teacher or a librarian wanted to teach different aspects of Ancient Egypt, there are many resources that are available and many different ways to teach that subject.

Quest-all, an integral part of the Knowledge-Suite, allows research to be conducted across a variety of resources at the same time.

Using one integrated keyword search, Quest-all can search these resources simultaneously. Some of these are part of the Knowledge-Suite, others can be owned by your school, school district or even State and others can be databases that you currently subscribe to. For this purposes of this manual, it will be assumed that the district has:

  1. School, District, State resources
    1. Online Public Access Catalog for each school library
    2. Union catalog
  2. Knowledge-Suite resources
    1. C.E.R.F. ™ Curriculum and Education Resource Finder
    2. Lesson Plan & Authoring Database
    3. WebQuest
  3. Databases
    1. EBSCO
    2. ProQuest

Note that Knowledge-Suite is a custom product that can integrate the resources of your choosing. The resources here are examples. (Although the Knowledge-Suite Resources such as the Lesson Plan Database are included for all)
